WHAT WE DO

Dextran Products has been producing Dextran Powders and Dextran Sulfate for over 40 years. Both Dextran Sulfate and Dextran Powders are high and low molecular weight Dextran polymers (polysaccharides) derived from the bacterium Leuconostoc Mesenteroides. Dextran Sulfate is a sulfate derivative of selected dextran fractions. Various molecular weight fractions of both Dextran Powders and Dextran sulfate are derived through various stages of hydrolysis and purification of Native Dextran. Both Dextran Powders and Dextran Sulfates can be used in a wide variety of industrial and Life Science applications.

ABOUT US

• Dextran Products was founded at its current location in Canada in 1962 by Thomas C. Usher, entrepreneur and visionary and has been in continuous operation since that date.
• In August of 2023, Dextran Products was acquired by BioSpectra Canada Inc., an affiliated company under common ownership with BioSpectra Inc. located in Pennsylvania USA.
• Existing commercial activities are managed by Paige Pelrine and new commercial opportunities and portfolio expansion are being directed and managed by Paul DiMarco, Sr. VP Commercial Operations for the BioSpectra, Inc. Organization.
• Dextran Products is in the process of writing a new chapter in its long history with a legacy that started with the founder, Thomas C. Usher that reaches back to 1938 where he conducted basic research and historic product development of Dextrans and Dextran derivatives in England.
